Sustainable Stories
What is more inspiring then hearing your neighbors tell stories about what they are doing to live more sustainably and seeing those stories come to life before your eyes?
What if we employed the powerful medium of film/video to capture many of these inspiring stories happening in our community and presented them to the community in a very public way?
Please join us in this grassroots effort to create a video montage that captures the stories of sustainable efforts in our community!
Format Ideas
- Stories can encompass any aspect of sustainability (local food/farming/gardening, water conservation, renewable energy, energy conservation, consumption, local living economies, garbage/recycling, social sustainability...).
- Time allotment for each story can be anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes.
- Filming can take place in people's homes, workplaces, businesses, community meetings, or spontaneous "on the street" interviews.
- Video segments can be generated by professional or amateur filmmakers, or by the "ordinary" people using their own camcorders or digital video cameras.
- The outcome may end up being a single compiled film or a collection of shorts or some combination of both.
- The film will probably be anchored by stories from known sustainability pioneers in our community.
Public Presentation
Our goal is to assemble this in time for the April 2008, Earth Day festivities. We may attempt to produce a trailer in time for the Celluloid Bainbridge Film Festival in March 2008.
- These stories could also be:
- Televised on BITV and other local cable access television stations.
- Posted on the web ( e.g., on Sustainable Bainbridge's website, YouTube, etc).
- Screened at film festivals.
- Made available for sale at local outlets.
Help us make this exciting project a reality! We would love to have participation in a variety of capacities, including:
- Project planning
- Recruiting
- Research
- Scheduling
- Storyline/scripting
- Interviewing
- Film making
- Film review
- Video editing
- Production
- Marketing/outreach
- Event planning
