Sustainable Stories

What is more inspiring then hearing your neighbors tell stories about what they are doing to live more sustainability and seeing those stories come to life before your eyes?

What if we employed the powerful medium of film/video to capture many of these inspiring stories happening in our community and presented them to the community in a public way?

Please join us in this grassroots effort to capture and share local stories in both video and written format.

Check out our Sustainable Stories page on You Tube for some examples.

Here are the ways you can participate: Contribute your own story! Make a film! Share a resource! Volunteer! Currently, we are searching for professional or amateur filmmakers to get us started. If interested, contact: set at sustainablebainbridge dot net.

Criteria for Content (Video or Written)

  • Stories can encompass any aspect of sustainability (local food/farming/gardening, water conservation, renewable energy, energy conservation, consumption, local living economies, garbage/recycling, social sustainability...).
  • For video submissions, filming can take place in people's homes, workplaces, businesses, community meetings, or spontaneous "on the street" interviews.
  • For written submissions, we recommend up to 600 words (shorter the better).
  • Content should include:

Title of story.
Who?: Name of individual(s) portrayed with a few biographical details.
What?: What sustainable activity are they practicing?
How?: How are they doing it? Give a few interesting details.
Why?: What inspired them to do this?

Criteria for Video Submissions

  • Video segments can be generated by professional or amateur filmmakers, or by the “ordinary” people using their own camcorders or digital video cameras.
  • Time allotment for each film is a maximum of 5 minutes.
  • Submission format: digital video (DV)

How do I submit my video?

If you don't have an account, you'll need to sign up for one. It's free.
