Why go solar in the Pacific Northwest & why now?

Did you know that more than a third of our electricity comes from coal-firing plants, while renewable energy makes up less than 1% of our electricity supply from Puget Sound Energy?

Did you know that Puget Sound Energy has recently increased our electricity rate an average of 5.96%, after a similar rate hike last year?

Did you know that the people of Washington State have already spent over $5,000,000,000 (five billion dollars) this year on oil and natural gas - with virtually all of that money leaving the state?

Do you think that it is time to secure our energy future, strengthen our local economy and protect our environment? Please join us at the Forum for a truly energetic exchange of ideas and discussions.

We will have experts in home energy efficiency and solar energy present information on:

  • Benefits and viability of harnessing solar energy in the Puget Sound region.
  • Home energy efficiency and home Energy Star qualification
  • Photovoltaic (PV) systems and solar hot water systems.

Following the presentations, local residents will talk about their experience of having gone solar, their financial payback and more.

We will also present examples of solar/renewable energy programs from other communities in Washington State, designed with the purpose of creating local energy and local economy.
